DwellStudio
A home furnishings and designer baby boutique brand, DwellStudio is known for its signature use of color, elegant modern design, and impeccable construction. In 2011, bsp made a strategic equity investment into the lifestyle brand to enable DwellStudio to further expand its wholesale, retail, e-commerce, and licensing sales.
bsp’s strategic investment in the company will allows it to focus on growth within the wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels. Concurrently, bsp maintains a hands-on operating role to drive DwellStudio’s licensing, international, and business development initiatives.
M.Nii
M.Nii is a men’s collection designed, developed and artistically directed through our POP Studio division. The authentic story dates back to the 1950’s at a mom-and-pop tailor shop called M.Nii near Makaha, where some of the earliest surf-specific trunks took flight. Their nickname: the “Makaha Drowner.” They were not just a pair of surf trunks, they were a memento, a badge of honor. The tradition and story live on today as we launch the brand this summer at tastemaker retailers across the US and in Japan. Say ‘Aloha’ to the newest member of our brand portfolio.
Penny Stock
Penny Stock is a men’s young contemporary sportswear line designed, developed and artistically directed through our POP Studio division. The concept is a by-product of the current global recession that we are climbing out of and a clever reaction to the downturn of the global marketplace. The idea is simple – iconic style offered at true value equals the new modern day status symbol. Currently you can find Penny Stock at better retailers in the USA, Japan, Canada and Australia (and soon to be in Europe). And we are all anxiously anticipating “Pretty Penny”, our women’s counterpart, for Spring 2012.
Ridemakerz
bsp maintains a minority investment in Ridemakerz, an American retailer of do-it-yourself customized toy cars. Founded in 2007, Ridemakerz is the first-ever car customizing experience in which kids can create and customize model cars, selecting a body style, chassis type, paint schemes, and other options.
Assisting Ridemakerz’s management team, bsp developed several initiatives, including a strategy to identify new revenue opportunities for the company, which maintains a number of retail shops across the US as well as a popular web presence.
Shabby Chic
bsp acquired and operates the iconic home furnishings brand, founded by designer Rachel Ashwell in 1989. Like the familiarity of a well-worn pair of jeans, Shabby Chic represents a revived appreciation for the used, well-loved, and worn-in.
With a new branding strategy and design direction in place, Shabby Chic can now be found in more than 2,000 retailers worldwide under the brands Shabby Chic®, Simply Shabby Chic® and Treasures by Shabby Chic®, as well as direct-to-retail relationships with House of Fraser in the UK and the QVC shopping network. In addition, bsp manages Shabby Chic’s active PR and social media footprint.
